MM43.22 – Toronto Transit Commission Infrastructure Capacity and Development Sites
by Councillor Dianne Saxe, seconded by Councillor Jamaal Myers
Dear Mayor Olivia Chow and Members of City Council,
We wish to express our strong support for the above captioned Member Motion that essentially requests the TTC to comment on development applications regarding the ability of transit to accommodate, both through station capacity and line capacity, the cumulative impacts of developments. In addition the Motion directs City staff to develop strategies for funding transit infrastructure growth requirements that support City approved development.
It is apparent that Toronto is reaching a TTC capacity crunch on Line 1 and several downtown stations, as described by Steve Munro in a recent article. In our opinion this work is of extremely high priority.
Yours truly,
Geoff Kettel
